- Maddie Fenton: Jack and Maddie met in college where they were both members of a ghost-themed club. They later married and had two children, Jazz and Danny. The couple work together as ghost hunters at Fenton Works.

- Vlad Masters: Jack and Vlad were best friends in college. Vlad was secretly in love with Maddie. During college, Jack accidentally blasted Vlad with ectoplasmic energy from a prototype ghost portal, giving Vlad ghost powers and a condition called ecto-acne. Vlad blames Jack for the accident and has held a grudge against him ever since.

- Danny Fenton: Jack is unaware that his son Danny is half-ghost. He is often oblivious to Danny's ghost hunting activities. Despite their differences, Jack loves Danny and wants what is best for him.
