Opedia provides Pedias (short for encyclopedias) where you can chat in text about any entity—people, characters, titles, and more. Each Pedia centers on sourced, community edited research. During text chat, you can run Deep Research to pull in the latest, cited facts about the subject. You can also use Remix Role to change the analytical style of the reply (e.g., Commentary, Teaching, Analysis).
A simple way to understand how this works, and to start chatting, is to click the starter questions on each Pedia page. These are third person, commentary style prompts designed to explore the subject. You can also type your own question in the text box.
Example (Julius Caesar):
– How did Julius Caesar’s patrician background influence his ability to connect with the common Roman people and gain their support?
Example answer (excerpt):
– Julius Caesar’s patrician background had a complex impact on his ability to connect with the common Roman people and gain their support…
(Answers summarize sources and may include citations.)
Opedia does not train its own foundation model. We call leading cloud LLMs and inject the Pedia’s sourced context so you can discuss the subject with more grounding and citations than a general purpose chatbot. The result is a third person, source backed Q&A about the entity you care about.
At any point, you can run Deep Research to generate a time stamped, cited brief on the subject (or on a specific sub question). The brief is saved into the chat so that later messages can reference it. Deep Research helps the Pedia ground answers in recent sources.
Remix Role changes the perspective or writing style (e.g., Commentary, Teaching, Analysis) while keeping the same underlying research. Remix changes style, not identity—answers stay third person and source backed.
No, you do not have to use Deep Research and Remix Role. Chat away, and the pre-conducted research will be embedded in the chat history. The default role of a Pedia is a helpful assistant.

The Pedia is an assistant that summarizes information from sources and community edits. Answers can be incomplete or outdated; always review citations and use your own judgment.
